I am a native English speaking English language teacher from Devon in the South West of England. I have been teaching English since 2011. I completed my CELTA in 2010 at International House Wroclaw, Poland. I got into teaching all because of a conversation I had with a Ukrainian guy in an Irish pub called O'Briens in Kyiv about football. This conversation changed from football to teaching and then to the English language... which I knew nothing about at the time, even though I am an English native speaker.
That conversation changed my life.
Over the last 12 years I have had more than 30 different nationalities in my classroom from Rio to Rome. I've worked and lived in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Gdansk, Warsaw, Donetsk, Kyiv and Lviv. When people ask what and who have you taught? It's easier to answer with what haven't I taught! I've taught everything from IELTS, FLYERS, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, OET, BEC to Business English, English for Football, even English for the Fashion Industry. All ages too, from little shits - only joking - to pensioners.
Things I like when I'm not in the classroom are, football, I support Arsenal, but here I support Legia and I try to go to the stadium at the weekend for the games. Food, I love food, I have a sweet tooth and my big belly reflects how much I like it. Zurek is my favourite soup, and I DO like pierogi if you were wondering. ... Film and TV is another thing I'm a big fan of. If I ever have to recommend a film, I always say Incendies and if anyone asks for a good series to watch, then I always say Gomorrah. Both are in foreign languages - not English. Talking about foreign languages....
Sadly for me, I don't speak any other languages. ANGIELSKI, INGLESE, англійський, английский. Yeah, I might know a few simple polite phrases in Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian and yeah, I know how to read a menu, but that's all. Bad for me, but good for you as you will be forced to only speak English when we have our lessons.
That's enough about me for now, we'll find out all about each other during the course of our classes.
Hope to speak to you soon!
Cheers
Luke
That's the back of my head. I was teaching a group of Ukrainian students how to know when you are pronouncing the long E sound correctly when saying sheep & ship or beach and bi.... ;)
That's me talking with students about the different interests and events that happen at different stages of life. Age is always an interesting topic to talk about.
A lesson about fashion. You can see I dressed up especially for the lesson ;)
