What does it mean? It is used to describe food without taste/flavour.
Is it positive or negative? Bland is a negative word, so be careful if someone has just cooked you dinner ;)
When do you use it? You can use it while eating to complain about the food or when you’re talking about food you’ve had before from certain places.
Example 1: Could you pass me the pepper? This pie is bland. I don’t think I’ll buy it again.
Example 2: We went to that restaurant that just opened, but we were really disappointed with the food. It was so bland. And, it wasn’t cheap.
Question: What was the last thing you bought/ordered that was bland?
